About

ROLLING OUT is a feature length documentary that follows Greg, a courageous African American baker teaching ex-cons to swap drug deals for pastry puffs through his re-entry education program, and weaves together the personal stories of six men navigating their post-incarceration journey through the twelve-week culinary entrepreneurship course.

Through the powerful and dramatic personal stories of these men, the film openly shows the challenges of reintegrating into a society that deeply stigmatizes former prisoners and the struggle to put together life’s basic building blocks such as housing and employment. But despite the immense obstacles facing these men, this is also a story of hope, as the cohort quickly forms bonds in the kitchen that feel like family and finds support in one another through friendship, laughter and a shared purpose.

Yet after the twelve-week intensive program ends and the men move on with their lives, one major question remains - will their newfound skills and support network help them stay on the right track or will the challenges of re-entry prove too difficult to overcome? Ultimately, the film is a story of bravery amidst intolerance; a film that tells of the hardships, steadfast perseverance and support needed to build life anew.
